MARTINSVILLE, Va. (March 7, 2014) — Clint Bowyer is a race-car driver, one of the best in NASCAR, but Tuesday night he’ll be trading driving gloves for hockey gloves … sort of.
Bowyer will attend Tuesday’s night’s NHL game between the Carolina Hurricanes and the New York Rangers at the PNC Center in Raleigh, NC, as part of a promotional event for the upcoming STP 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway on March 30.
Bowyer, who finished second in last spring’s STP 500, will sign autographs on the concourse, outside of Section 108, from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday night. At 7 p.m. he will sound the Carolina Hurricanes Warning Siren to bring the Hurricanes onto the ice for the game.
Between the first and second periods Bowyer will be on ice, playing a game of Percentages with one lucky fan that will be selected via a social media contest the Hurricanes will conduct on Monday, March 10. “We’re looking forward to a fun night with the Hurricanes and Clint,” said Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell. “While racing and hockey are totally different sports, there are similarities between hockey and racing at Martinsville: lots of action and plenty of contact.”
The Carolina Hurricanes were established in Raleigh in 1997 after relocating from Hartford, Connecticut, where the National Hockey League franchise was originally founded in 1979. Since their arrival in North Carolina, the Hurricanes have captured three division championships, two Eastern conference titles and the 2006 Stanley Cup championship. The team also hosted the 2004 NHL Draft and the 2011 NHL All-Star Weekend at PNC Arena, where it plays its home games.

Tickets for youth 12 and under are just $10 in the Clay Earles Tower, rows 15-52. Teen tickets (ages 13-17) in the same area are $25. Youth and teen ticket prices are good with the purchase of an adult ticket.
Youth 12 and under are admitted free to the Kroger 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on March 29 and to Pole Day on March 28.
