Reutimann Focuses on One Foe at Darlington

‘You’ve Got to Forget about Racing Other Guys and Race the Racetrack’

STATESVILLE, APRIL 9, 2014 – David Reutimann, driver of the No. 35 MDS Transport Ford, comments on racing at Darlington Raceway:

“My first trip to Darlington was in the Truck Series. And I absolutely outdid myself on getting my ‘Darlington stripe.’ I got one in practice and might even have gotten one in qualifying. It’s one of those places where, if you’re not up against the fence and using up the right side of the car, you’re not trying hard enough. I definitely think I got credit for trying hard enough my first race there.

“I’m not sure that I’ve ever gotten the hang of that place. You hear the phrase ‘you have to race the racetrack’ at some places. I think they came up with that phrase after somebody raced Darlington, because that’s just how that place is. You’ve got to forget about racing other guys and concentrate on the racetrack and not tearing the thing up.”JUST THE FACTS: Reutimann has 7 Sprint Cup career starts at Darlington Raceway… His best finish at the track is 11th (2010).
