AUSTIN DILLON QUOTES:
What is Richmond International Raceway like?
“Richmond International Raceway is a place where long-run cars are good. It’s a tough track, man. Richmond has been tough for me, but hopefully we can turn it around in this NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car. We’ll go there for practice with an open mind and have some fun. We’ll have a lot of the Dow people there. It will be a fun race for us.”
The way that Richmond is shaped, can it be compared to any other track on the schedule or is it too uniquely shaped to be compared to anything else on the schedule?
“Richmond International Raceway is pretty unique. Iowa Speedway is somewhat similar. I’ve been very successful at Iowa. Richmond just has less grip, you have to really focus on what your car needs for the race.”

What do you like about racing at Richmond International Raceway?
“We haven’t had the best of luck there in the past, but in the last few races we’ve started to improve on our finishes. In the fall race last year we took home a fifth-place finish, so that’s a good thing to build on for this season. Richmond is a fun place to race and a great short track. The great part about racing on a Saturday night at Richmond is the sparks as our cars clip the asphalt, glowing brake rotors and the fans just seem to get into it a lot more.”

Race Rewind … In this race last season, Newman started 15th and finished 15th.
RYAN NEWMAN QUOTE:
What are your thoughts on Richmond International Raceway?
“The key for us is to get forward drive coming off of Turn 4 and to get the Quicken Loans Chevrolet to turn in the center. If you get it turning in the center, it helps the forward drive. Richmond is a fun, little short track. It’s got challenges, but if you get those right, you’ll be in contention for the win.”
How does Richmond compare to the other short tracks we’ve visited so far this season?
“It’s entirely a track all its own. Lap times fall off huge there. It has a different shape in comparison to all the others. It used to be similar to Phoenix International Raceway, but since the new asphalt was put down in Phoenix, you can’t even compare them.”
How do you rate the first third of the regular season with your new RCR team?
“We have had much better performances than our results. Our results have been because of tire failures or some kind of mechanical issue that has bit us. In the end, our RCR-prepared Chevrolets have been really strong and the 31 crew has done an exceptional job. We just need to keep up what we are doing and the results will show. I mean, for all that’s happened I’m pleased to be sitting in ninth place.”

BRIAN SCOTT QUOTES:
Are you looking forward to Richmond after getting so close last time there?
“Yeah, I’m really looking forward to Richmond. I try not to be overly confident just based on a run that we had there. There are some things that are going to be different when we go back. Goodyear is bringing a different tire. Everybody thinks you keep the exact same thing in there that you had last fall and you go to town and it will work. But in the spring race, the weather is different. The time of the race is different, we race during the day, we have a different tire so even if we do everything the same we can go there and we can struggle. It’s not just automatic that we are going to be as dominant as we were in the fall. I’m excited because of the last experience we had there and almost winning the race, but I also am not going to take anything for granted. I’m going to make sure I do my normal pre-race ritual. I’m going to study notes and I’m going to work just as hard as I always have there to try to have another good run.”
Is there anything that compares to the way Richmond drives?
“I think turn 1 at that track is the most difficult entry for a driver of anywhere that you go. It just has a feeling of it being so big; it’s really hard to kind of decide what line you take in there. You almost get lost coming in there. To figure out what line you need for your car and to do it over and over on a consistent basis, I think it’s the most difficult corner in all of the race tracks we go to. That is one thing I felt like we were able to really do well when we were there last fall, and we almost won race. I know going back just figuring out turns 1 and 2 is huge. It seems like that corner kind of dictates your race, at least in my experience for Richmond.”

TY DILLON QUOTE:
“I’m still a little new to Richmond, but fortunately I’ve had a couple of opportunities to race there the past few years. It’s a similar track to Iowa Speedway and short-track racing under the lights will definitely make for a good race. Danny (Stockman, crew chief), the guys, and I worked hard on our off-week and we are focused on improving and getting this No. 3 WESCO Chevrolet back in victory lane.”
On RCR’s 1000th start in the Nationwide Series:

Follow Cale … Fan’s can follow the young driver on Twitter @CaleConley, Facebook www.facebook.com/caleconleyracing and Instagram @CaleConley
CALE CONLEY QUOTE:
What are your thoughts going to a track where you’ve competed at before?
“I’m excited for Richmond (International Raceway). Bristol (Motor Speedway) and Darlington (Raceway) were pretty difficult tracks, so it’ll be nice to head to a track that’s not one of the toughest to get around. It is very technical, especially in K&N, and I’m sure it’ll be that way in the Nationwide car. I feel like you can get by without your stress level at an all-time high. I’m looking forward to going into it with a different approach than the first two starts, with a more relaxed and focused feel of getting used to this car at a track where I’ve competed before.”
What are your goals For Richmond?
“Personally, I need to redeem myself after Darlington. I was pretty disappointed in myself and how that shook out. A top-10 is doable; I don’t see why we can’t run in the top-five with Nick (Harrison, crew chief) and the crew. I think we can make it happen Friday night.”

How does it feel to be a part of Richard Childress Racing’s 1000th Nationwide Series start?
“Richard Childress Racing is such a great organization; they’ve put me in the best racing equipment that I have ever driven. To be a part of the 1000th RCR start in the Nationwide Series is such an honor, I am so happy to be a part of this team.”
