Buescher Involved In The Big One Passing for The Lead at Talladega Superspeedway
TALLADEGA, Ala. (May 3, 2014) – James Buescher and the Rheem team came into the second restrictor-plate race of the season looking to redeem themselves after Daytona. While leading the charge from the high lane, Buescher was making a bid for the lead when he received a bump on his left-rear quarter panel. That bump sent the No. 99 Rheem Toyota Camry spinning directly in front of the 40-car field. Buescher did all he could do to save it however two cars weren’t able to avoid Buescher. The contact resulted in severe damage that forced the Rheem crew to the garage to make repairs on their No. 99 Rheem Camry. The Rheem crew worked quickly and was able to return to the race, but 25 laps down to the leader. Buescher would go on to log laps during the remaining laps of the Aaron’s 312 in an effort to collect valuable championship points. James Buescher and the No. 99 Rheem team came home in the 29th position, 31-laps down.
James Buescher Quote:
“We were a victim of restrictor-plate racing at Talladega. We were almost clear of the No. 11 and the No. 22 pushed on the wrong part of the bumper. He pushed on the left-rear quarter panel and it sent us around. I was still below the apron when I got clobbered, that part was the really frustrating. We had a really strong Rheem Toyota Camry today and I felt like we could have been in contention for the win.”
