Accident Claims Brian Scott in Aaron’s 499
In only his fifth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start, Brian Scott and the No. 33 Shore Lodge Chevrolet SS captured the pole position for the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway, which was his first pole in the NSCS. Scott led the field to green on the outside line. As is typical of racing at the 2.66-mile track, Scott was shuffled to the 10th position as the field whet three wide. The Shore Lodge Chevy would race conservatively for the majority of the race before getting caught up in an incident in turn four on lap 137. The accident ended the day for the Circle Sport team, resulting in a 42nd-place finish. Scott returns behind the wheel of the Chevrolet SS at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 25 for the Coca Cola 600.

BRIAN SCOTT QUOTE:
“I don’t know what happened. That is the part about Talladega, they start wrecking in front of you and if you are behind it you really can’t do anything. You don’t have any time to react. I just noticed that the No. 78 in front of me slowed down real bad. So, I got on it then I saw smoke and we were still kind of straight. Then it was kind of just a pinball effect. I ended up going into the inside wall me and (Tony) Stewart took a pretty good shot there, but everybody is alright.”
