Clint Bowyer No. 15 Cherry 5-hour ENERGY Toyota – Charlotte Preview

ONE TO REMEMBER

CORNELIUS, N.C. —   The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series resumes normal, albeit longer, activities this Memorial Day weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Following a weekend where $1 million but no points were on the line, racing at the 1.5-mile track culminates  with the “greatest day in motorsports” on Sunday.

The day kicks off in Monaco with the running of the Formula 1 race, followed by the Indianapolis 500 and ends with the Sprint Cup Series’ longest race of the year, the Coca-Cola 600.

Clint Bowyer, driving his No. 15 Cherry 5-hour ENERGY Toyota, hopes to be the final driver celebrating in victory lane later that day. And after a winning performance last weekend in the Sprint Showdown and a strong showing in the All-Star Race, finishing seventh after an on-track incident stymied his chances at a win, Bowyer has reason to be optimistic.

The Michael Waltrip Racing driver won at the 1.5-mile superspeedway in October 2012. He also has earned two top-five and five top-10 finishes in 16 starts. Even more impressive, Bowyer has been running at the end of every one of those 16 races, quite an accomplishment considering the 600-mile race is notoriously tough on equipment.

This Memorial Day weekend Bowyer’s equipment also will show support for some of the men and women who serve our country. During the Kansas Speedway events, Bowyer’s primary sponsor, 5-hour ENERGY, announced that now through July 31, 2014, the company will donate five cents from the sale of every specially marked bottle of cherry flavored 5-hour ENERGY® to Special Operations Warrior Foundation. SOWF is a nonprofit organization that supports the military’s special operations forces and their families through college scholarships, family services, and financial stipends.

So while our country honors and remembers those who served our nation this weekend, Bowyer looks to do his part by making the end of the “greatest day in motorsports” one  to remember.

CHASSIS

Chassis No. 813 serves as the primary chassis for Bowyer at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It’s a new chassis for the 2014 season and finished 13th at Phoenix earlier this year. Chassis No. 800 serves as the back-up chassis.  This chassis has never seen action on the race track but has served as the back-up for several races this season, most recently Kansas.
