Ford Racing NSCS Notes & Quotes:
Coca-Cola 600 Advance – Charlotte Motor Speedway
Saturday, May 24, 2014

Carl Edwards, driver of the No. 99 Fastenal Ford Fusion, posted the fastest time in today’s first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice session and backed that up with another Top-10 effort in Happy Hour. He spoke about what the key for tomorrow’s Coca-Cola 600 will be from his perspective.

CARL EDWARDS – No. 99 Fastenal Ford Fusion – “I think in the sun we’re going to be OK. I think when the race starts we should be pretty good, but the track changes a lot so we’re not exactly sure how to keep up with it yet, but we’re working on it.”

WAS IT GOOD TO HAVE A DAY OFF YESTERDAY TO WORK ON WHAT ADJUSTMENTS YOU WANTED TO MAKE FOR TODAY? “Yeah, I think so. Jimmy came up with some really good ideas and some of them worked. I actually had a flat tire at one point in the practice session and were able to overcome that, and everybody did a good job. A day off is good, especially when everybody is home.”

SO IS THE BIG KEY GETTING THROUGH THE DAYLIGHT PORTION OF THE RACE WITHOUT ANY TROUBLE? “Yeah, we have to get through that and stay on the lead lap. I think of it as two 300-mile races and the second half is much different than the first half. We have to be fast in both of them, but we really have to be fast in that second one.”
