MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 18, 2014) – NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rookie Michael Annett and his Pilot Flying J Chevrolet SS team will venture to Sonoma Raceway in California this weekend for the first road course event of the 2014 season.
For Annett, following finishes of 20th at Pocono and 21st at Michigan, this Sunday’s event will be his first on the winding 1.99-mile course. In NASCAR Nationwide Series competition, Annett earned a seventh-place finish on the road course at Elkhart Lake in 2007 and finished 11th at Watkins Glen International in 2012.
The race airs live on Sunday, June 22 at 3 pm Eastern on TNT.
K&N WEST DEBUT… On Saturday afternoon, Annett will get in some extra time on the Sonoma course during the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race. The event will be his debut race in the popular regional touring division. His No. 31 Chevrolet for Steve Portenga Racing will be adorned by the black and gold colors of TMC Transportation, the industry leader in flatbed transportation. Annett and TMC were previously united in the ARCA Series in 2007, highlighted by an outing at Iowa Speedway in which they won the pole and finished third.
MICHAEL ANNETT QUOTE:
“It’s my first time at Sonoma, so I’m not sure what all is in store, but I have taken precautions. I’ll watch in-car videos of previous races right up until I get on the track. Running in the K&N West race for TMC and Steve Portenga Racing will also be a big benefit. The entire weekend will be a learning process for me.”
