Corey Jones Encouraged By Don Biederman Memorial Performance

INNISFIL, ON- As a team that opened their 2014 campaign with back-to-back mechanical DNFs, Corey Jones and his J Star Motorsports crew are reveling in their recent change of fortunes. The freshman competitor recently impressed in back-to-back outings at the 16th annual Don Biederman Memorial, registering a pair of top-15 finishes in the two-night event.

“We’re getting better every time out of the trailer, and weekends like these are only going to help us improve”, explained a visibly ecstatic Jones post-race on Night 1.

“When you have events like ‘the Biederman’ that draw the very best that OSCAAR has to offer, it’s impossible not to pick up some new tricks”, continued ‘Twinkle Toes’. “It feels like every time I hit the track, I’m noticing something new that I should be doing or realizing an adjustment I could be making to my driving style. Running this tour is like going to racecar driver college”

The affable freshman has taken to Super Late Model competition admirably, fitting in alongside his much more experienced adversaries.

“Every time we arrive at an event, I walk through the pit gate with my eyes and ears wide open”, said Jones. “I’m trying to learn as much as I can. At all times. Any bit of information that guys at the top are willing to give me, I’ll be there to pick up. It’s the only way to improve on a tour like this”

“I know what worked in Karting, and I know what worked during my Canadian Vintage Modified days. But this? This is a whole new world for me and this team. We’re not bullheaded enough to think we know it all. We’re here to learn. And so far, I couldn’t be happier with how much we’ve picked up”

Corey Jones will enjoy a weekend off, before returning to action in Round 6 of the OSCAAR Super Late Model Tour on July 13th at Kawartha Speedway.

Corey Jones’ 2014 campaign would not be possible without the support of Castle Building Centres, RBC, Accountable Automotive, Dan Simpson – RBC Mortgage Specialist, Lafleche Roofing, Anmar Cleaning Services, Inno-Tech, Ken Robinson Refrigeration, Oktane Productions, Epic Racewear and Westmeadow Dental.
