How was your race?
“Some mistakes on my end. From the beginning we were okay. Got sorted out there, jumped to the top and thankful for Kyle (Busch) and Elliott (Sadler) for pulling up and we got to a JGR (Joe Gibbs Racing) trio there so that was cool — a Toyota one-two-three there for a little bit. We come to pit stops and I’ve got to practice on going the same track, but in a different car. I’ve got to do that. I’ve got to practice my pit stop during practice because I didn’t know where to lift so I was judging off them. I felt like I totally overshot it but we ended up okay. But, I raced Elliott (Sadler) down pit road not knowing that he pitted after me. So, I gave up a lot of time there. The caution came out and the car was just totally different from practice and just barely put any wheel into it and it come around on me there, but luckily didn’t hit anything and bounced back. We fought at the back of the pack for the majority of the race kind of getting a little frustrated, but I told myself to keep calm and things will be alright and so we ended up coming back up to a top-10 finish.”
What were the final two laps like from your seat?
“Had the win — the win was right there on the backstretch. I know exactly what spot. I could go and pitch a tent there because I knew we had it. The 22 (Joey Logano) pulled up which was what he was supposed to do and I ended up seventh. So, a good night for all of us. A little frustrated because I seen it but then it was taken away, but thinking back from Talladega earlier we did a heck of an improvement and I’m happy for my guys here. It’s fun coming over here with JGR (Joe Gibbs Racing) for some part-time Nationwide stuff and having some fun with Kevin (Kidd, crew chief) and all of the guys here. Ready for the next one, so a good top-10 finish for us.”
