Summer Rush 2 Set To Invade Kawartha Speedway This Weekend

FRASERVILLE, ON- Final preparations are ongoing for the return of Summer Rush to Kawartha Speedway on July 13th. A full card of racing – including the OSCAAR Super Late Model & Modified Tours, Dirt Late Models and Round 2 of the heralded Mini Stock Nationals – will kick off at 2:30pm.

“I think we’ve all been counting down the days to this event since we left Kawartha on June 1st”, explained OSCAAR President Dave Gainforth.

“This Kawartha event really comes at a pivotal moment in our season – for both of our tours – there’s a lot on the line this weekend”

In Super Late Model action, point leader Andrew Gresel will hope to earn his second straight Kawartha victory, and tighten his grip on the points standings entering the second half of the season.

“We’ve found something that works at Kawartha, I absolutely love racing there”, said Gresel when reached for comment. “We didn’t have the finish we were hoping for at Sunset a couple weeks ago, so Kawartha gives us the perfect opportunity to get our momentum back on track”

The OSCAAR Modifieds will join the Super Late Models on the card, as point leader Gary McLean will hope to hold off hard charging freshman Max Beyore. McLean has had success at Kawartha in the past, though Beyore has the edge in experience at the Fraserville, ON oval, having raced in the speedway’s Pro Late Model division prior to migrating to Modified competition.

Summer Rush 2 will also play host to the final round of the $500-to-win ‘Mini Stock Nationals’, in an event that is likely to draw Four Cylinder competitors from across Ontario. Sunset Speedway regular Andy Kamrath has confirmed he will be in attendance, with plans of defending the ‘Nationals’ title he earned on June 1st.

“I think this team surprised ourselves even more than we did everyone else”, remarked Kamrath when asked about his June 1st victory. “We came into the first round of the ‘Nationals’ completely blind. We didn’t really know if we were going to have enough power to keep up with some of the Kawartha regulars, but it all worked out in our favour. Now that we know what we need to run at the front, hopefully we can take down back-to-back ‘Nationals’ wins”

Gates open at 11:30 am for this Sunday’s event, with the green flag flying at 2:30pm. Additional details can be found at www.OSCAAR.ca.
