Lilly Diabetes 250 Race Recap

Race Recap: Indianapolis, IN (July 28th, 2014) Josh Reaume and the No.87 Cambria USA team came into Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) event at Indianapolis with high hopes that the Brickyard could deliver a rock-solid performance.

Sadly, Reaume struggled most of the weekend with an ill-handling Chevrolet Camaro. After qualifying 37th with a lap of 53.264/168.970mph, Reaume and the Rick Ware Racing Team led by Crew Chief Jonas Bell finished in the 33rd position.

When the green flag waived on Saturday afternoon for the Lilly Diabetes 250 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Reaume quickly started moving forward. Debris on the track brought out the first caution of the day on lap 16, permitting Reaume to pit for four tires, fuel, and a track bar adjustment.

Lots of green flag racing followed suit. The leaders started to pit very early under green flag conditions, which meant teams were playing out their fuel strategy. However, Reaume stayed out well after green flag stops cycled through. It wasn’t until the caution came out on lap 56 for fluid on the track that Reaume finally came down pit road for fuel.

The fuel mileage game was thrown out the window when another debris caution came out on lap 71, which allowed all the teams to get fuel for the finish, resulting in a 33rd place finish.

Josh Reaume Quote:

“That was the most challenging race of my life! I just had a car that was really difficult to drive to all weekend. But we survived the Brickyard and that is something I am very proud of.”
