Race Date / Time:  Sunday, August 3rd / 1 PM ET
TV / Radio: ESPN / MRN / SiriusXM

TEAM QUOTES:

Pocono Raceway: “It’s really the first track we get to go back to a second time,” Allmendinger said. “We’re hoping that going back to these tracks a second time will help us. At least, we will have somewhere to start from when we begin first practice on Fridays.”

A good starting point: “For the most part, our biggest struggles have been being off when we start practice,” Allmendinger said. “It’s when we unload and we are off, we have to play catch up from there. I think going back to these tracks the second time around will at least help us have a starting point. We didn’t have a great car the last time at Pocono Raceway, but it was not terrible. We needed to work on it in certain areas. We’re hoping this time we will be able to start a little closer to where we need to be. We need to build a whole program around practice and just starting closer. That’s what we need to do to have a better race.”

Optimistic: “After Indy (Indianapolis Motor Speedway), I think we learned some things that will carry us over into Pocono Raceway that will make us better unloading,” crew chief Brian Burns said. “We definitely had a little better car the first Pocono race. We didn’t take advantage of track position, but we will be aggressive on that this time and get the car up there and see what it is made of. We are taking the car we ran at Kentucky Speedway. I think it is one of our best performing cars. We were running in the top 10 there and came to pit road with what we thought was a flat tire, which cost us track position. That’s one of our better cars.”

Attention fans:  “We’re asking our fans to visit ScottBrand.com to learn about two $25,000 grand prizes SCOTT® Brand is giving away. Two people will win a $25,000 ‘Pit Stop’ bathroom makeover and other prizes include backstage racing weekend getaways,” Allmendinger said. “It’s their ‘Pic to Win’ sweepstakes that’s running from July 17 to November 18. They are asking fans to share pictures of their outdated bathrooms. It’s a pretty neat deal. Just go to ScottBrand.com for more details.”

Thoughts on The Chase:  “I don’t even really think about The Chase because we are such a young team and we are not quite there as a championship caliber team,” Allmendinger said. “However, we feel like we might have a shot at making it and a track like Watkins Glen International coming up is obviously our best chance possible.”

A defining moment:  “It would be great to make The Chase because that would mean that we won a race,” Allmendinger said. “That to me is what would define making The Chase for us. It would be big for our team, our sponsors, our owners and just the exposure will help bring more money to the team and help with the sponsors that we have to keep building their brands. That’s why it’s important to win. The Chase doesn’t even really enter my mind.”

Watkins Glen International test:  “The Watkins Glen International test went okay,” Allmendinger said. “We had really good speed in the car. The only thing is that we were not able to get quite the feel we were looking for. We have a great starting point for when we go back in a few weeks. This is another track we think we have a shot at winning. So, we’ll see how things go. Last year, we had a shot at winning, but we ran out of fuel.”
