Ragan Warming Up to the Glen after Career Finish in 2013

No. 34 Team among Those Ramping Up Road Course Efforts

STATESVILLE, AUGUST 5, 2014 – David Ragan, driver of the No. 34 Dockside Logistics Ford, comments on racing at Watkins Glen International:

“Watkins Glen is a very different race course from Sonoma. Sonoma is a little slower, a little more technical, a little flatter. But at Watkins Glen, you’re wide open and very hard on the brakes. It’s a little easier, in my opinion, than Sonoma.”But the racing at Watkins Glen is always very exciting. We always seem to have some accidents there that are a little more spectacular because of how fast we go. We look forward to the road courses. I’ve grown to enjoy them a little bit more over the last few years, so I’m looking forward to it.

“It used to be you could pick your road-course winners out of a group of four or five drivers who had road-racing backgrounds. In more recent years, everyone takes every race so seriously. Teams are putting more work into their road-race cars, and drivers are going to some schools and getting more seat time. Now, if you look at the winners in the last six or eight years, it’s everybody in the field. Everybody’s a lot more competitive and everybody runs a lot closer together.”

JUST THE FACTS: Ragan has seven Sprint Cup career starts at Watkins Glen International … His best finish at the 2.45-mile road course came last year (21st) … Dockside Logistics returns as primary sponsor of the No. 34 Ford … The No. 34 team is coming off a 19th-place finish at Pocono Raceway, its second-best finish of the season.

. @DavidRagan’s career-best finish at @WGI came last year when he finished 21st. Says all teams taking road courses more seriously. #NASCAR
