Luc Lesage Suffers Setback but Battles Back to Nineteenth Place Finish

Sunday’s running of the JuliaWine.com Le 50 Tours was Luc Lesage’s third event of four in the 2014 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 and one he wanted to do well at in front of his home town fans.  Unfortunately contact caused him a setback and he finished a disappointing 19th.

The #24 Sportchief/Ecotone Team struggled a little bit through practice but felt the car would get better as the weekend went on.

Qualifying was next on the schedule and Lesage would post a time good enough for the 19th starting position of thirty three cars. “We didn’t qualify as well as we had hoped,” said Lesage after qualifying on Saturday.  “These guys on my crew are very good though so I know they will work on it to make it better.”

Sunday’s JuliaWine.com Le 50 Tours started out the way the #24 Sportchief/Ecotone driver wanted as he went to work picking off cars in front of him.  By the midway point of the race he had moved up to a race high 11th and was looking for more.  Another competitor tapped him from behind doing significant damage to the tail of the race car.  Lesage brought the #24 car to the attention of his crew on pit road and they went to work to fix it.  Lesage would restart deep in the field and after several late race cautions the race was finished and he was scored 19th.  “We fought really hard to get close to the lead pack early in the race,” said driver Lesage.  “Then another driver got impatient and hit us from behind. We were working our way back forward again when we took another hit late in the race.  I have terrific sponsors in Sportchief & Ecotone and I want to thank my crew who did a terrific job, I also want to thank 22 Racing and the fans in this city are incredible.  I look forward to my last event in 2014 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Aug. 31st.”

The JuliaWine.com Le 50 Tours from Circuit de Trois-Rivieres will air TSN – Sat., Aug. 16, 3 p.m. ET on TSN and Sunday August 10th LIVE at 3 p.m. on RDS.
