ADVANCE NOTES

·        Biffle at Richmond

o   Biffle has 24 Sprint Cup career starts at Richmond, earning two top-five and six top-10 finishes.

·        Last Time at Richmond

o   Biffle started the race 26th due to qualifying being rained out and looked to have a 3M Ford capable of a top 10.  As the laps dwindled down a tight handling condition developed combined with a few mishaps on pit road, Biffle battled back and earned a 15th-place finish.

·        3M & 811

o   811 is the national “Call Before You Dig” phone number.

o   CGA (Common Ground Alliance) and 3M selected the Richmond race due to its position on the calendar, which falls at a time of year when home and property improvement projects are popular across the United States. An underground utility line is damaged by digging once every six minutes due to someone digging without first making a call to 811, according to CGA data.

o   3M, an international leader in utility and utility locating products, as well as utility damage prevention, was instrumental in securing a fifth consecutive year of collaboration with Greg Biffle, which will benefit all CGA stakeholders by raising awareness of the 811 phone number.

Biffle on Richmond:

“Richmond almost drives like a speedway or intermediate mile-and-a-half track.  The way the front stretch sweeps you get a lot of speed and then the tight corners.  Richmond is one of those places that will suck you in driving into the corner too far, straightaway speed is high, but the corner speed is still down. It takes a little bit to get used to that change of speed.  Racing is so good at Richmond because you can run two or three wide up the race track, get a run off the bottom and the tires wear out.  Hopefully we can get a good run this Saturday night and secure our position in the Chase.”

Puccia on Richmond:

“Richmond is usually an exciting race being a night race and the last race of the regular season.  We’ve had some success over the past few races there and we did a Goodyear tire test a few months ago and Richmond.  We are looking to get a solid run and solidify a spot in the Chase.”
