Gilliland Says Charlotte Character Coming Back

Team Takes Intermediate Track Knowledge, New Crew Chief to Home Track

STATESVILLE, OCT. 7, 2014 – David Gilliland, driver of the No. 38 MDS Transport Ford, comments on racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway:”The Charlotte race is a home game, which is great. We’ve got a lot of friends and family of our team members, guys from the shop, who all work so hard to make everything happen. So, it’s a special weekend for those guys to get to come to the track.

“Charlotte Motor Speedway is an awesome racetrack, one of my favorites. It’s really fast with this new-style configuration of the car. We can’t wait to get out there and see what we got. I feel like we’ve learned a lot on the mile-and-a-half tracks and we can take that into Charlotte and have a good weekend.

“The track is getting more and more character every time we go back, and a lot of the bumps are coming back. It makes it kind of tricky. You’ve got to be aware of the bumps and what you’ve got to do to make the car work around them.”
JUST THE FACTS: Gilliland has 16 Sprint Cup career starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway … He has one top-20 finish at the 1.5-mile oval … His top finish at Charlotte is 20th (2013) … MDS Transport returns as primary sponsor on the No. 38 Ford … Gilliland has a new crew chief in Jay Guy, who moved over from Front Row’s No. 34 team.
