Ragan’s CSX Ford to Feature Local Schoolkids’ Signatures

Driver Encourages Students to Promise to Play It Safe around Railroad Tracks

STATESVILLE, OCT. 7, 2014 – David Ragan, driver of the No. 34 CSX “Play It Safe” Ford, comments on racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway:

“We’ve got our friends at CSX back on the car for Charlotte, which is cool to host them at our home track. We’re going to visit Harmony Elementary School on Thursday morning to talk to kids about safety and have them sign the hood of our CSX Ford to promise to keep away from railroad tracks.”Racing in Charlotte and getting to be at home all week is always cool. But this is a Saturday night race and the only Saturday night show of the Chase, so that really makes it a special weekend. You’re winding down the season and you want to run well in front of your friends and family. We always have some shop guys out who typically don’t get to go to the track, so that’s fun to see them there, too.

“They almost did too good of a job repaving Charlotte Motor Speedway. The asphalt still has a lot of color, it’s still relatively smooth, and there’s still a lot of grip to that racetrack. You can’t tell that it’s been eight or nine years since they repaved the place. I’m sure you’ll see some very fast speeds for pole qualifying.”
JUST THE FACTS: Ragan has 15 Sprint Cup career starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway … He has one top-five, three top-10 and five top-15 finishes at the 1.5-mile oval … His best finish at the track is second (2011) … CSX returns as primary sponsor of the No. 34 Ford with its safety message to “Play It Safe” around railroad tracks … Competition Director Derrick Finley begins serving as interim crew chief for the No. 34 team as former crew chief Jay Guy moves to the No. 38 team.

The hood of @DavidRagan’s @CSX Ford will feature signatures of Harmony Elementary students promising to #PlayItSafe around railroad tracks.
