· Reed at Charlotte Motor Speedway
o Ryan Reed will make his third NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start at Charlotte Motor Speedway this Friday. In his previous two starts, Reed has crossed the finish line in 14th both times.
· The Car
o The No. 16 American Diabetes Association Drive to Stop DiabetesSM presented by Lilly Diabetes team will race Chassis RK-808 for the fifth time this season. This chassis has also raced at Auto Club Speedway (17th), Charlotte Motor Speedway (14th), Kentucky Speedway (17th) and Atlanta Motor Speedway (18th).
· Riding with Ryan
o For the ninth time this season, Reed has a special guest riding along with him during Friday’s NNS race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The No. 16 Ford Mustang will carry the name of Karl Reynolds above the passenger side window.
o Reynolds was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes five years ago, right before his ninth birthday. The now 13-year-old, has dedicated himself to his role as an American Diabetes Association Youth Ambassador, including fundraising and welcoming walkers to the Association’s annual Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes every year since he was diagnosed. In addition to his Youth Ambassador duties, Reynolds enjoys playing the piano along with participating in speech club and a youth group.
o “I love how dedicated Karl is to his role as an American Diabetes Association Youth Ambassador, as well as his passion to stop diabetes,” said Reed. “Yet again, Karl is an outstanding example of what the whole Drive to Stop Diabetes program stands for. Every week I am fortunate enough to meet people that have continued to live their passion, even with diabetes. It makes me so proud of the hard work by both the American Diabetes Association and Lilly Diabetes.”
· Visit the American Diabetes Association’s Drive to Stop Diabetes Midway Display
o Drive to Stop Diabetes presented by Lilly Diabetes will host an activation space in the fan midway at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The display area features the No. 16 Drive to Stop Diabetes racing simulator, diabetes awareness and educational materials as well as various prizes.
o Reed will appear for a Q&A at the Drive to Stop Diabetes display on Friday, October 10 from 2:45 – 3:00 p.m. ET.
· Recapping Kansas Speedway
o Reed and the No. 16 team utilized a strong pit strategy to overcome an early deficit and finish inside the top-15 for the 14th time this season, crossing the line in 12th.
