Michael Annett Pre-Race Notes & Quotes: Martinsville

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (October 22, 2014) – Michael Annett and the No. 7 Allstate Peterbilt Group Chevrolet SS team head to Martinsville Speedway this Sunday, as the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season draws closer to its conclusion.

Annett, a Rookie of the Year candidate, is fresh off a stellar showing last weekend at Talladega Superspeedway, in which he spent over half of his completed laps running inside the top 15 and tallied the third-most green-flag passes in the race. Annett and team will now transition from the 2.66-mile restrictor plate track to the 0.526-mile paperclip-shaped Martinsville, where Annett has just one previous start.

Kevin “Bono” Manion, Annett’s crew chief, oversaw cars driven by Jamie McMurray that scored a pole in 2011 and earned consecutive top-10 finishes in the two 2013 races.

The race airs live on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 1:45 p.m. Eastern on ESPN.

MICHAEL ANNETT QUOTE:

“Martinsville is still fairly new for me, having not raced there in Nationwide. I got a feel for it in the spring, but this is a place where experience tends to matter and I don’t have the track time that some of these other guys do. I appreciate how much ‘Bono’ and Tommy [Baldwin, team owner] have helped in getting me acclimated to the place – we’ve certainly been doing our homework – so we’ll see what we can learn together come this weekend.”
