Michael Annett Pre-Race Notes & Quotes: Texas

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (October 29, 2014) – Michael Annett and the No. 7 CypressHQ Chevrolet SS race team head west this weekend to the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway, located less than an hour from the Addison, Tex. offices of team sponsor Cypress Associates, for the 34th race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.

Annett, a Rookie of the Year candidate, has performed well on tracks 1.5 miles or longer this season, scoring 10 finishes of 25th or better. He recently finished 21st at Atlanta Motor Speedway, a track shaped similarly to Texas.

Kevin “Bono” Manion, Annett’s crew chief at Tommy Baldwin Racing, oversaw cars driven by Martin Truex and Jamie McMurray that scored eight top-15 finishes in 16 Texas attempts. Manion-led teams qualified on the front row twice there, in 2007 and 2008, with Truex.

The race airs live Sunday, Nov. 2 at 3:15 p.m. Eastern on ESPN.

MICHAEL ANNETT QUOTE:

“We’ve had good runs lately at this type of track, which is really encouraging. If we can have a good run while conserving fuel, which was big at Texas in the spring race, we’ll be in decent shape. We have two more intermediates this year, including this one, so I’m hoping we can bring home the results that this TBR team and all of our partners deserve. We’ve improved a lot on them since the start of the season.”
