Hard Fought 23rd-Place Finish for Stenhouse at Texas

FORT WORTH, TX.(Nov. 2, 2014) – After overcoming being two laps down and two green-white-checkered attempts, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. drove his EcoPower Ford to a 23rd-place finish in Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway.

“I’m proud of my guys for never quitting,” Stenhouse said. “We made all kinds of adjustments to our Ford and nothing seemed to change the balance. We were just extremely loose for the majority of the race. We will keep working on our cars and keep building for 2015.”

The Olive Branch, Mississippi native lined up in the 18th position for the 334-lap race but with a machine that was really loose he slowly fell back a few positions.

With a mostly green flag race the two-time NASCAR Nationwide champion found himself two laps down, but with a flurry of late race cautions Stenhouse earned the lucky dog position and was back on the lead lap with less than 15 laps remaining.

On the second green-white-checkered attempt, the 2013 Sprint Cup rookie of the year lined up in the 21st position but fell a few positions in the final shootout forcing him to settle with a 23rd-place finish.

With two races remaining in the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup season, Stenhouse and the No. 17 team travel to Phoenix Raceway for the Quicken Loans Race for Heroes 500 on Sunday, November 9.  Race coverage starts at 3:00 pm EST on ESPN.
