Turner Scott Motorsports NASCAR Camping World Truck Series News & Notes: Phoenix International Raceway

Ben Kennedy
No. 31 Heater.com Silverado
Phoenix International Raceway – Lucas Oil 150
November 7, 2014

Rise Like A Phoenix…The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) heads to the desert for the penultimate race of the season at Phoenix International Raceway. Although Ben Kennedy has never made a NCWTS start at the Arizona track, he has three previous starts at the 50-year-old facility in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. In those three events, he has never started outside the top 10 and has earned a best finish of 10th (fall of 2012).

Desert Heat…Heater.com will once again be aboard the No. 31 Chevrolet Silverado. Heater.com is a world-leading heating product online retailer. The site features a wide variety of indoor and outdoor heating products to meet everyone’s needs. Heater.com gives consumers key information in the form of pictures, text and video allowing them to make the most informed buying decision. Heater.com is the “One Stop Shop for ALL Things Heating!” For more information, visit the company’s web site at www.heater.com.

Every Day Is Election Day…Voting for the 2014 NCWTS Most Popular Driver is open and Kennedy needs your help. Visit www.VoteForBenKennedy.com every day from now until November 14. Kennedy took home the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Most Popular Driver award last season.

Watch and Listen…The Lucas Oil 150 can be seen live on Friday, November 7 at 8:00 p.m. EST on FOX Sports 1. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90.

Previous Race Recap…Kennedy was off to a strong start as the NCWTS took on Texas Motor Speedway in a Halloween spooktacular. Unfortunately, a fast truck was waylaid by mid-race contact from another competitor. Although Kennedy made an impressive save, a run through the grass led to overheating problems and required multiple pit stops to rectify, ultimately resulting in a 15th-place finish.

Ben Kennedy on Phoenix International Raceway:

“I’ve been looking forward to Phoenix for a while. I’ve obviously never been there in a truck, but I made three starts in the [NASCAR] K&N Pro Series West and fared pretty well there, and it always helps when you don’t have as much of a learning curve. We’ve got to do something to turn our bad luck around; it’s been a tough few weeks for us. My whole Turner Scott Motorsports team has worked really hard all season, and they deserve to make it to Victory Lane. The next Chevy to win a race will earn Silverado its 200th victory, and I’d really like to be the one to get it.”

Ben Rhodes
No. 32 Alpha Energy Solutions Silverado
Phoenix International Raceway – Lucas Oil 150
November 7, 2014

One Last Shot…Making his fourth and final NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) start with Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) this season, Ben Rhodes hopes to finish strong in the No. 32 Alpha Energy Solutions Chevrolet Silverado. In his previous three NCWTS starts at Martinsville Speedway, Dover International Speedway and Bristol Motor Speedway, the 17-year-old had limited track time due to rain canceling or shortening practice sessions. This time around, Rhodes and crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. hope the desert weather stays intact as they look to capitalize off of their two top-10 finishes and claim TSM’s first NCWTS victory this season.

What a Champ…The Louisville, Kentucky, native completed his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) rookie season last month, earning the two biggest accomplishments of his young racing career to date. After dominating the 2014 season with five victories, six pole awards and a 60-point lead in the championship standings, Rhodes was named the NKNPSE champion and Sunoco Rookie of the Year. Rhodes’ accomplishment marked back-to-back championships for TSM in the NKNPSE.

First in Quality. First in Service. First for You…TSM is happy to have Alpha Energy Solutions back aboard theNo. 32 Chevrolet Silverado for the fourth and final time this season. Alpha is a self-performing service provider specializing in HVAC, indoor energy solutions, building automation, chillers, boilers, electrical, plumbing and equipment rental. Their coverage area includes eight states surrounding their home base in Kentucky. Check their web site at http://www.alphamechanicalservice.com or find them on Facebook and Twitter (@AlphaMech).

Continuing to show their support for Rhodes and the No. 32 truck team, Alliance Comfort Systems, Kentucky National Guard, Park Community Credit Union and Refrigerant Rescue are also back aboard the TSM truck this week.

Previous Race Recap…The No. 32 TSM truck had a tough run at Texas Motor Speedway last weekend with Tayler Malsam behind the wheel. Equipped with a solid truck following the weekend’s two practice sessions, Malsam was forced to settle for a 19th-place starting spot when time ran out during the second round of knockout qualifying. After a series of unfortunate events throughout the race, the No. 32 truck crossed the finish line in 21st.

Watch and Listen…Don’t miss any of the action as the NCWTS heads to the Jewel of the Desert for a night of high-speed racing under the lights. The Lucas Oil 150 can be seen live on Friday, November 7 beginning at 8:00 p.m. EST on FOX Sports 1, and can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90.

Ben Rhodes on Racing at Phoenix International Raceway:

“I’m so excited to get back behind the wheel of our Alpha Energy Solutions truck. We’ve had three good runs this year, but I’m more determined than ever for this weekend at Phoenix. I’ve never raced at this track, so I’m looking forward to getting some practice time in and learning everything I can from my team. I’ve enjoyed working with Hillman and the crew so much this year. I can’t thank Harry Scott and Alpha Energy Solutions for giving me such a great opportunity this year. This is our last shot and I’m ready.”
