November 14, 2014
Following the drop of the green flag, Larson wasted no time defending the ParkerStore Silverado in the first position as he cleared his competition in Turn 2 and set sail for the race’s first long run. Larson would continue to dominate the first part of the race and hold onto the top spot until the fifth caution of the night came out on lap 100. During the caution, two-time championship winning crew chief Mike Hillman, Jr. called Larson down pit road for the final pit stop of the race. After solid pit stops all night, the ParkerStore team had trouble removing the right-front tire, ultimately sending Larson back out to restart the race on lap 106 in the third position. With clean air at a premium at the 1.5-mile south Florida track, Larson continued to battle, sometimes three and four wide, during the remaining portion of the race, ultimately bringing the ParkerStore Silverado home with a runner-up finish.
Kyle Larson on his run at Homestead-Miami:
“Tonight was a solid night for this ParkerStore team. I’m so thrilled to have them back on board with me and I just wish we could have gotten them to Victory Lane here tonight. We had the dominant truck all night, and it stinks finishing second, but I couldn’t be more proud of the guys that worked on the No. 42 truck. Hopefully we can take this momentum and build on it for tomorrow’s [NASCAR] Nationwide Series race, and visit Victory Lane one last time in 2014.”
