Buescher Looks to Build on Last Season’s Momentum

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2015) – Chris Buescher once again pilots the No. 60 Ford Mustang in the NASCAR XFINITY Series for Roush Fenway Racing in 2015.  The young driver teams up with crew chief Scott Graves for the second season in a row.

Although 2014 began with a tough start, Buescher and the No. 60 team continued to improve throughout the season, earning one win, five top-five and 14 top-10 finishes.  In his first full NASCAR XFINITY Series season, Buescher earned a seventh-place finish in the final point standings.

“I think the 2014 season was all about progress and learning,” said Buescher.  “We started out a little off from where I expected to be, but we gained on it all year.   The Mid-Ohio win really seemed to be the turning point for our team.”

The No. 60 team began to hit its stride in August, after a dominant car and bold fuel strategy earned the team its first win at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.  After that victory Buescher collected six top-10s to close out the year.

“Mid-Ohio was huge for me,” said Buescher.  “It was the race that proved to our team that we could go out and win.  From that point on, we had a new confidence going into each weekend that helped us improve our performance and get several top-fives.”

Looking to 2015, Buescher aims to take both the confidence and knowledge gained from the 2014 season and build on that.  The Prosper, Texas native believes that one of the biggest lessons he learned last year was getting the race car set up the way that he likes it, and not necessarily the same way his Roush Fenway teammates did.

After an off-season lacking seat time, due to NASCAR’s new testing policy, Buescher is ready to get back behind the wheel of his Mustang.

“Daytona has so much hype around it and it is one of the craziest races of the year,” said Buescher.  “We have Cheez-It on the car for the season opener and it looks great now, but would look much better in victory lane.  We will have to get to the race, be patient, and see how it plays out.”

The goal for the sophomore driver is simple.

“My goals for 2015 are to go out and win several races and ultimately a championship,” said Buescher.  “I think we are more than capable and with all of the changes and improvements throughout the off-season I know our team is up to the challenge.”
