No. 16 ORTHO FORD FUSION RECAP:
Biffle Drives No. 16 Ortho Ford to a Top-10 Finish in Daytona 500
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 22, 2015) – Greg Biffle drove his No. 16 Ortho Ford Fusion to a 10th-place finish in the 57th running of the Daytona 500. Biffle started the Daytona 500 eighth and for a majority of the race was a factor inside the top 10. The race ended in a green-white-checkered finish and with his Roush Fenway teammate in tow the duo had hopes of making it to the front. Biffle avoided the last-lap accident that took out his teammate, and with no drafting help still held on for a 10th-place finish.
“It’s a little disappointing because we want to win the Daytona 500,” said Biffle. “It just seemed like our car didn’t quite have the speed it needed. I really struggled to try and stay in line and handling was a huge issue. My car was so tight. There was nothing I could do at the end because I was totally boxed in.”
Biffle raced his way to an eighth-place starting position with his fourth-place finish in the second Duel race on Thursday. From the drop of the green flag Biffle was a constant factor in the top 10, despite a tight handling condition.
The team tried different pit strategies, alternating between two and four tire stops, along with shim, wedge and air pressure adjustments. The tight condition continued, but it also seemed to be a theme throughout the field.
A relatively caution free race concluded with a green-white-checkered finish. Biffle took the final green flag 12th with his Roush Fenway teammate Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in tow. Their plan to stick together unfolded when an accident on the last lap took out Stenhouse. Biffle had no help, but still managed to maneuver his No. 16 Ortho Ford Fusion to a 10th-place finish.
