ADVANCE NOTES

Bayne at Martinsville

·         Trevor Bayne makes his second career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at Martinsville Speedway this weekend. In one previous start at the Virginia short track, Bayne started 25th and finished in the 35th position.

·         Bayne will also make his third career NSCS start on a short track. The driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion previously made one start at Bristol Motor Speedway, qualifying in the 19th position and recording a 34th place finish in the March 2011 event.

Bob Osborne at Martinsville

·         Osborne will call his 17th NSCS event at Martinsville on Sunday afternoon. In 16 previous races at the paper-clip shaped oval, Osborne has recorded one top-five and four top-10s.

·         Osborne’s best finish at Martinsville was a third-place effort in the Oct. 2008 event with driver Carl Edwards.

Recapping Fontana

·         Bayne took the green flag from the 36th position at Auto Club Speedway. While battling for position inside the top 25 just shy of halfway, Bayne made contact with Sam Hornish Jr., damaging both the left and right-front fenders of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion. Despite the damage, Bayne was able to rally in the closing stages and overcome two green-white-checkers to earn a 29th-place finish.

QUOTE WORTHY

Bayne on racing at Martinsville:

“Martinsville will be fun this weekend. I have one race under my belt there from when I ran with the Wood Brothers. It’ll be different this weekend for sure since it’s our first short track race of the season. Hopefully we can keep all of the fenders clean on our AdvoCare Ford and bring it home with a good finish.”
