New Weekend, New Paint Scheme…Justin Allgaier will drive the No. 51 FLIPPING SHIPS Chevrolet this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS). FLIPPING SHIPS is a TV series based around singer Edwin McCain and his Boats Have Souls business and is set to premier on Friday, April 24 at 10 p.m. EDT on Animal Planet. In the six-part series, Edwin takes abandoned boats and restores them for charity and clients. The first episode features Edwin’s friend and fellow singer, Darius Rucker, as they team up to restore a boat for the Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital charity auction.

Lonestar State…Allgaier has two starts in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) at TMS. He finished 20th in the No. 51 Chevy in last year’s fall race at the 1.5-mile speedway. Allgaier’s best mile-and-a-half finish this season was 20th at Atlanta Motor Speedway. In his six NSCS starts this season, Allgaier has one top-15 finish and three top-20 finishes.

See Justin…Allgaier will sign autographs for fans on Thursday, April 9 at 4:30 p.m. local time at Gate 4 on the TMS concourse. Allgaier will be joined by Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Danica Patrick, and the session is limited to the first 225 fans in line. On Saturday, April 11, Allgaier will participate in TMS’s Racing with Faith assembly at 1:10 p.m. local time, located in the grandstands at Gate 7.

Martinsville Race Recap…Allgaier and the No. 51 Fraternal Order of Eagles/Switch Hitch team were looking for redemption at Martinsville Speedway after a wreck in qualifying sent them to their backup car for the 500-lap race. After being forced to start in the back, Allgaier worked his way into the top 10 for the lap 189 restart. Unfortunately, luck was not on Allgaier’s side as he was later given a pit-road penalty and caught up in an accident before having a tire go down and being forced to the garage for repairs. After returning to the track, Allgaier finished in the 42nd position for HScott Motorsports.

Justin Allgaier on Texas Motor Speedway:

“It was nice to have a weekend off and enjoy time with the family over Easter. Now, I’m ready to get back in the car this weekend. I’m really looking forward to continuing the momentum we’ve had over the past few weeks. I like Texas [Motor Speedway] because it has different grooves. If the car isn’t driving the way I like it, I can move around the track until I find something that works. Every year that we go there, the track has more character. The bumps get bumpier, but that helps make great racing for the fans. It’ll be a fun weekend with the show FLIPPING SHIPS on the car. I can’t wait for the first episode to air later this month. ”

Crew Chief Steve Addington on Texas Motor Speedway:

“We’re continuing to build on our mile-and-a-half program, and we’ve seen those gains each time we’ve gone to this type of track. Justin has really improved there from his first Sprint Cup race at Texas [Motor Speedway]. As long as we can get the weather to cooperate with us, I expect to have a solid weekend with the FLIPPING SHIPS Chevy.”
