ADVANCE NOTESBayne at TexasTrevor Bayne makes his 10th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. In nine previous starts at the 1.5-mile oval, Bayne has recorded a best finish of 17th three times (Nov. 2010, April 2011 and Nov. 2011).

Texas is the site of Bayne’s first career NSCS start, which came in the Nov. 7, 2010 event. Bayne took the green flag that afternoon from the 28th position and came home with a 17th-place finish.

Texas is also the site of Bayne’s first career NASCAR XFINITY Series victory, which came in the Nov. 5, 2011 event after starting from the 10th position and holding off Denny Hamlin and Carl Edwards to earn the victory.

In nine starts at Texas in the XFINITY Series, Bayne has one victory, an average starting position of 9.3 and 25 laps led. Bayne was the race leader in his most recent start at Texas in Nov. 2014 before a flat-tire ended his afternoon early.

Bob Osborne at Texas

Osborne will call his 16th NSCS event at Texas on Saturday evening. In 15 previous races in the Lonestar State, Osborne has recorded two wins, four top-fives and six top-10s.

Osborne’s two victories came with former Roush Fenway Racing driver Carl Edwards in the Nov. 2005 and Nov. 2008 events, leading 82 and 212 laps, respectively.

Recapping Martinsville

Bayne took the green flag from the 36th position at the paper-clipped oval of Martinsville Speedway and was able to overcome an early spin to earn an 18th-place finish, holding off a charge from Roush Fenway teammate Greg Biffle.

QUOTE WORTHY

Bayne on racing at Texas:

“Texas is a special place for me. It’s where I got my first victory in the XFINITY Series and where I made my first Sprint Cup start. I’ve always loved racing here. I’m ready to get back to the track after this past weekend off. It was a great Easter, but I want to get back in that AdvoCare Ford and get us the best finish possible this weekend.”
