Showdown to be an All Star
CORNELIUS, N.C. — The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is enjoying an extended stay in Charlotte, N.C., home to most teams.
Two weekends of racing kicks off with the second specialty race of the season, the All- Star Race. Clint Bowyer will attempt to race his way into the field Friday night in the Sprint Showdown. (One other driver will advance through a special fan vote.) He did it last year, winning the race and advancing to Saturday’s main event where he finished seventh, his best finish in the event.
Bowyer will once again sport a special No. 15 Cherry 5-hour ENERGY paint scheme. Now through July 31st, the company will donate five cents from the sale of every specially marked red, white and blue bottle of cherry flavored 5-hour ENERGY® to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF), a top-rated nonprofit organization that supports the military’s special operations forces and their families through college scholarships, family services, and financial stipends.
A special cause on a special weekend for Bowyer who’s ready for a Showdown to be an All Star.
Are you looking forward to Charlotte race weeks?
“These are always a fun two weeks. The teams get to be home for the most part. The All Star race is a great way to kick it off. It’s under the lights. You’re going for a million dollars and you don’t have to worry about points. That can sometimes create a little drama on the track– guys doing things they maybe wouldn’t normally do if points were on the line. Bummed we aren’t already in the show but we managed to race our way in last year, hoping we can do it again this year.”
CHASSIS
Chassis No. 776 serves as the primary chassis for Bowyer for the Sprint All-Star race. This chassis has not seen race action this season. Chassis No. 816 has served as back-up at several races this season.

Special Operations Warrior Foundation for a Second Year
Living Essentials, LLC, the distributor of 5-hour ENERGY®, continues to support military causes with the announcement of a second year of limited edition cherry flavored 5-hour ENERGY® shots. From May 1 through July 31, 2015, the company will donate five cents from the sale of every specially marked red, white and blue bottle of cherry flavored 5-hour ENERGY® to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF), a top-rated nonprofit organization that supports the military’s special operations forces and their families through college scholarships, family services, and financial stipends. The minimum guaranteed donation is $200,000.
“Last year’s program was a huge success and customers loved cherry flavored 5-hour ENERGY® shots, so it was a no brainer for us to support this worthy cause for another year,” said Melissa Skabich, Living Essentials’ communications director.
To kick off the second year of the program, the SOWF logo will be placed on the hood of NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer’s red, white and blue No. 15 Toyota Camry for Michael Waltrip Racing at several upcoming races on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule, including May 9th at the Kansas Speedway, May 15th at the All Star Showdown, May 24th at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, and June 14th at Michigan International Speedway.
“I’m so proud to drive the red, white and blue 5-hour ENERGY® Toyota Camry to support the Special Operations Warrior Foundation for a second year,” said Bowyer. “These folks do amazing work, and it’s so easy to support the cause.”
“We are grateful for the wonderful support and generosity from the makers of 5-hour ENERGY® and driver Clint Bowyer,” said Steven L. McLeary, Special Operations Warrior Foundation’s executive director. “The funds donated are a huge investment in the families of fallen special operations heroes, allowing us to continue to honor the sacrifices of fallen warriors by sending their survivors to college.”
Cherry flavored 5-hour ENERGY® is available in stores and online at Shop5HourEnergy.com.
