ADVANCE NOTES

Bayne at Dover

Bayne will make his first career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at Dover International Speedway this weekend.

In seven career starts in the XFINITY Series at “The Monster Mile,” Bayne has recorded two top-five finishes, six top-10 finishes and has an average finish of 9.3. His best finish of second came in the May 2014 event at the one-mile oval.

Bob Osborne at Dover

Osborne will be atop the box for his 18th NSCS race at Dover this weekend. In 17 previous starts, Osborne has earned one win, eight top-fives, 12 top-10s and has an average finish of 8.4. Osborne’s victory came in the Sept. 2007 event with former Roush Fenway Racing driver Carl Edwards after starting from the 15th position and leading 95 laps.

Recapping Charlotte

Bayne took the green flag from the 27th position on Sunday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the longest race of the NSCS season. Bayne fought a tight handling condition for much of the 600-mile event and was able to overcome making contact with the outside retaining wall to record a 27th-place finish.

QUOTE WORTHY

Bayne on racing in Dover:

“I always liked racing at Dover. We ran well here in the XFINITY Series in the past and hopefully that can carry over to the Cup side. It’s a fast, high-banked track that really lets you race all over the place. I’m ready to see what we can do this weekend with the AdvoCare Ford.”
