Event Preview Fact Sheet

This Week’s Shore Lodge Chevrolet SS at Daytona International Speedway … Brian Scott is scheduled to pilot chassis No. 495 in Sunday’s Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway. This chassis was utilized for the first time at Daytona in February and again at Talladega Superspeedway in May, both with Scott behind the wheel.

Daytona History … The 27-year-old driver will make his second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start at the 2.5-mile superspeedway, which is only his 11th career Sprint Cup start. Scott has 11 previous starts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series at Daytona International Speedway. His best start of fourth was the July 2013 race and he scored his best finish of sixth in the 2013 season opener. Additionally, Scott has two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts with a best finish of ninth in his 2008 Daytona debut.

Calling the Shots … Scott will be paired with former Sprint Cup Series champion crew chief Todd Parrott this weekend. Parrott, who was crew chief for Dale Jarrett for two Daytona 500 championships (1996 and 2000), serves as director of competition for Richard Childress Racing’s XFINITY Series teams. In addition to two victories in the Great American Race, Parrott guided Jarrett to victory in the July 1999 race. Overall, Parrott has been a part of 31 Sprint Cup Series victories as a crew chief.

The Subway Firecracker 300 is live on NBC Sports Network at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday. The Coke Zero 400 is live Sunday on NBC at 7:45 p.m. ET.

Race Rewind …  Scott started The Great American Race for Circle Sport Racing in the 16th position and finished 25th in his first Daytona 500, after sustaining damage in three multi-car incidents. The 2014 race was only his second Sprint Cup series start.

Meet Scott … On Saturday, July 4, Scott is scheduled to visit the Sprint FanZone Main Stage at 2 p.m. ET at Daytona International Speedway for a question and answer session.

BRIAN SCOTT QUOTE:

What are your thoughts on Daytona Rising?

“Daytona Rising really is carrying the banner for what the track of the future is going to look like and how, as a NASCAR community, we are going to deliver the best fan experience to the people who are paying money, vacationing and choosing to come out and see NASCAR races. I think it’s really important for us to give them what they pay for, to give them what they want. It’ll be really exciting when Daytona gets done to see how the fans interact with it and how that experience is heightened for them, then hopefully more tracks will follow.”
