ADVANCE NOTES

Sadler at Daytona International Speedway

Elliott Sadler makes his 13th NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) start at Daytona International Speedway (DIS) this weekend in Daytona Beach, Fla. In Sadler’s previous 12 starts, he has one pole award, three top-five and five top-10 finishes at DIS.

The veteran driver from Emporia, Va. also has 25 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) starts at DIS with four top-five and nine top-10 finishes.

Previous NASCAR XFINITY Series Race

Sadler’s last NXS race was on Sunday, June 21st at Chicagoland Speedway. Sadler qualified third for the 200-lap event on Saturday afternoon, but rain storms postponed the race from Saturday night to Sunday morning. Sadler battled handling conditions for the majority of the race and drifted back to 15th. At the end of the race, the OneMain Financial crew as able to make some valuable adjustments and Sadler was able to pass four cars in the final laps. Sadler crossed the finish line in the 11th position.

Earlier This Year at Daytona

Sadler had a fast No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford for the season opener at Daytona and ran inside the top-10 for the majority of the race. However, Sadler’s Mustang was clipped in the left rear in a multi-car pileup with only eight laps remaining in the race. No. 1 OneMain Financial crew worked furiously to fix the car and Sadler was able to get his Ford back out on the track to run the final two laps. The efforts of the crew paid off, Sadler gained six positions in the final two laps and finished 19th.

2015 NASCAR XFINITY Series Driver Point Standings

Following the NXS race at Chicago, Sadler remains in sixth-place in the NXS Driver Point Standings. After 14 races, Sadler is 81 points behind the leader, but only 15 points behind fifth-place.

QUOTE WORTHY

“Who’s not ready for some fast Daytona racing on the Fourth of July weekend? We had a quick No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang in February, but in the final 10 laps my car was clipped in the big multicar wreck. As a team, our confidence is very high, because we know we had a top-five car the last time we were here. Phil Gould and I now have 14 races under our belts together and we’re ready to go after the win this Saturday night under the lights.”
