Shining Bright in the ‘Sunshine State’
In 189 NSCS starts at Daytona, Roush Fenway has recorded six wins, 36 top-fives, 68 top-10s and has led 717 laps. The organization most recently went to Victory Lane at the famed 2.5-mile superspeedway in the 2012 running of the Daytona 500 with former Roush Fenway driver Matt Kenseth.
Land of Firsts
Roush Fenway drivers Greg Biffle and Trevor Bayne each earned their first career NSCS victories at Daytona. Biffle won the 2003 running of the July event, leading 21 laps, while Bayne became the youngest winner of the Daytona 500 at 20 years and one day in 2011. Roush Fenway driver Ryan Reed won his first career NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Daytona earlier this season.
Firecracker Celebrations
Roush Fenway has recorded four victories in the July event at Daytona, including the organization’s first at the high-banked oval with former driver Jeff Burton in 2000. Biffle went on to win the 2003 running of this event, while former Roush Fenway drivers Jamie McMurray and David Ragan earned victories in 2007 and 2011, respectively.
Restrictor-Plate Prowess
Roush Fenway has run a total of 382 NSCS races with restrictor plates, earning 11 victories, 68 top-fives, 135 top-10s and has led 2,004 laps.
Pack Racing Resurgence
The Roush Fenway restrictor-plate program has experienced a rejuvenation in recent seasons. The organization won two of the four restrictor-plate races in 2012 and has won five restrictor-plate races overall in the NSCS dating back to 2009. Most recently in the XFINITY Series, Roush Fenway drivers Reed and Chris Buescher finished first and second in the first restrictor-plate race of the season at Daytona International Speedway.
Racing on the 4th of July
The NASCAR XFINITY Series will race under the Saturday night lights this weekend at Daytona. In 81 previous starts, Roush Fenway has recorded one win, 19 top-fives and 40 top-10s. Reed earned the organization’s first XFINITY victory at the track in the 2015 season-opener.
In the Points
Roush Fenway currently has all four XFINITY Series drivers inside the top-nine in the championship standings. Two-time race winner Buescher remains first, with teammates Bubba Wallace, Elliott Sadler and Reed ranking fifth, sixth and ninth, respectively.
