STECKLY DOMINATES WESTERN SWING IN CANADIAN TIRE DODGE

Wednesday July 15, 2015, Saskatoon: Two races in Western Canada and two wins for Scott Steckly in the Canadian Tire Dodge.  Not only that, the 22 Racing Team head home to Ontario with the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 championship points lead.

Steckly again had a good car right from the start of the day where he paced the field in the first practice. Second practice had him second quickest overall but optimistic the speed was in the car to run up front.  “I’m happy with the car,” said Steckly after practice.  “We worked on it and made some minor changes for qualifying.

The changes worked as Steckly would again go two for two and set the quickest time giving him the pole for the Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 just like the previous week at Edmonton.

This week would be different for Steckly who led all 300 laps the week before.  He had to fight off challenges from several competitors over the course of the 250 lap event.  A short rain delay would also be featured during the night’s activities.  The Canadian Tire Dodge driver had his hands full as there were several cautions over the final 50 laps including a five lap dash to the finish.  But in the end the 22 Racing/Canadian Tire Dodge came away victorious.  “That was a lot more difficult than last Saturday’s race,” said Steckly.  “My car was a little slow for the first five laps after a restart and I had to battle to stay up front.  But then it would get better and we were able to go back to the lead again.  It’s an incredible feeling to win both races out here and leave with the points lead.”

The Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 will be broadcast on TSN on Saturday July 25th at 12:30 pm ET and on RDS2 on Sunday Aug. 8th at 2 p.m. ET.

Next up for Steckly and the team is the Lucas Oil National 250 at Autodrome St. Eustache on Saturday July 25th.

Scott Steckly is supported by Canadian Tire, MAXIMUM Tools, Mobil 1, Erb Transport, AW Millwrights, Reefer Sales & NOCO Lubricants.
