Biffle Finishes 27th in the Safety-Kleen Ford Fusion at Loudon

LOUDON, N.H. (July 19, 2015) – Greg Biffle spent the majority of Sunday afternoon’s race from New Hampshire Motor Speedway searching for grip in his No. 16 Safety-Kleen Ford. Biffle qualified 14th but lost track position while searching for grip and front turn. Biffle gambled late in the race once handling improved by taking the “wave around” to get back on the lead lap, but the cautions never fell his way resulting in a 27th-place finish.

New Hampshire Motor Speedway is a home track for the Roush Fenway team with our Boston counterparts located nearby. Biffle worked hard on handling throughout practice and was able to earn a 14th-place starting position, but knew he would have his hands full when it came time to race.

Biffle lost track position as the race unfolded as he self-described his No. 16 Safety-Kleen Ford as having “zero grip.” The team made big adjustments at each opportunity to pit, trying different combinations of wedge and air pressure adjustments. Towards the end handling had improved, but Biffle had lost a lap to the leaders as green flag pit stops cycled through the field.

Many cars were a lap down due to poorly timed cautions, so in a strategy to get back on the lead lap Biffle took the “wave around” hoping another caution would ensue shortly after returning back to green flag racing. After about 20 laps of green flag racing, Biffle had to pit for fuel and wasn’t able to capitalize on taking the “wave around,” leaving him with a 27th-place finish at Loudon.
