I BET YOU DIDN’T KNOW THAT
Drag Race: For this weekend’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS), NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) teams will again be racing cars with slight changes to the current rules package. The changes to the 2015 package in place for IMS will have teams racing with a higher drag package, which is expected to slow speeds by nearly 10 mph. To go along with the change in the rules package, the group-qualifying format will be put on hold this weekend in favor of the qualifying format used at superspeedways. This weekend, qualifying is reduced to two rounds, with the top-12 cars from round one advancing to the final round. During each round, cars will make one timed lap with drivers being released from pit road at predetermined intervals.

@jamiemcmurray – Had a good car today. Got better every run we made. Made a mistake when the 41 got into my LR and missed a shift. #sleeplessnight
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY
New Hampshire Recap: New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) hosted race No. 19 of the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) season. For the first time in several weeks rain did not have a dominate effect on racing action. Jamie McMurray and the McDonald’s/Cessna team looked to cap-off a strong weekend with a top-10 finish, but a late-race mechanical issue dropped the team from contention and ultimately finished with a 26th-place result.
McMurray at IMS: McMurray will be making his 13th start in the Brickyard 400 this weekend. The 2010 winner of the prestigious race has three top-five and five top-10 finishes in his previous 12 starts. McMurray has completed 1,900 of 1,922 (98.9%) of the laps run at IMS and has led 48 laps of competition. He also has an average start of 16.3 and average finish of 14.6 and zero DNF’s (did not finish), failing to finish on the lead lap on one time (2007).
House Call: Jamie McMurray will make a visit to the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) of Indianpolis on Thursday evening (7/23). McMurray will be on-hand to meet with families and children who are currently staying at the Ronald McDonald House. The 2010 Brickyard 400 winner will also host an ice cream social for families, supporters and staff at the house. The Ronald McDonald House of Indianapolis is established to provide a supportive home-away-from-home for families of children receiving medical care at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health and other area hospitals.
Kyle Larson and No. 42 Target Team
New Hampshire Recap: The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) headed to the northern-most stop of the season this weekend for the first of two races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS). The weekend started off well for the Target team, pacing the field in the initial practice, but ended in a 31st-place finish on Sunday.
Larson at IMS: Larson will be making his second NSCS start at IMS this weekend. Last season Larson qualified 15th for the Brickyard 400 and drove to a seventh place finish. And while he only has one start at the historic track, Larson has the third-highest driver rating among entrants for this weekend’s NSCS race, behind Jimmie Johnson and last season’s winner, Jeff Gordon.
Back to XFINITY: After a four race break in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, Larson will be back behind the wheel this weekend in the No. 42 Chevy Camaro for HScott Motorsports with Chip Ganassi. Larson’s last XFINTY Series race came at Michigan International Speedway, where he started third and raced to a fourth place finish. This weekend, for his sixth XFINITY start of the season, Larson will be sponsored by Dixie Choppers and Big Machine Records. Larson also raced a Big Machine Records sponsored Chevy Camaro last season at IMS in the XFINITY race. In two prior XFINITY Series starts, Larson has an average start of 15.5 and average finish of 9.5.
A Shopping Bullseye: If you have made it to the race only to find out you’ve forgotten to pack a few necessities, there’s no need to worry.
