Chevrolet to Pace NASCAR Sprint Cup and Xfinity Races at Indy

2015 Chevrolet SS to Lead on Sunday, 2015 Camaro SS to Lead on Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS – Once again, a Chevrolet will set the pace at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

A 2015 Chevrolet SS will lead the field to the green flag in the Crown Royal Presents Jeff Kyle 400 at The Brickyard on Sunday, marking the 22nd consecutive year a Chevy has paced the field for the annual NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event at the famed speedway.

“Chevrolet has a long, long history of pacing races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and we are very honored to have the opportunity to have paced every NASCAR race here since the first one in 1994,” said Jeff Chew, Manager of Strategic Planning and Operations for Chevy Racing. “Indianapolis is very much like a second home to Chevrolet, so this is a special weekend for us, and we are very proud to once again be able to pace this weekend.”

It is the second consecutive year that Chevrolet SS will serve as the pace car for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at IMS.

The SS is Chevrolet’s first V-8 rear-wheel-drive performance sedan since 1996. It is powered by the LS3 Chevrolet V-8, delivering an SAE-certified 415 horsepower and 415 lb.-ft. of torque. The Chevrolet SS in 2015 adds more performance-oriented features that enhance its dynamic driving experience, like Magnetic Ride Control and a six-speed manual transmission.

In addition to the Chevrolet SS pacing Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, a Camaro SS will lead the field in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Saturday.
