Biffle Drives No. 16 Lilly Ford Fusion to 19th-Place Finish at Brickyard

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 26, 2015) – Greg Biffle carried the Lilly Diabetes logo at their home track of historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  NASCAR had a new rules package and after three long practice sessions on Friday the team had a good plan for the 160-laps at the Brickyard.  Biffle got a little tight in qualifying and started 20th and searched for grip around the 2.5-mile track during the race.  Biffle was looking at a solid top-15 finish until losing ground in the two green-white-checkered finish, ultimately crossing the finish line 19th.

“It just seemed like you couldn’t pass,” said Biffle.  “It was really hard to get up there and get a run on guys. It is difficult to try to get beside guys and it was really, really loose once you caught them. I would say the Kentucky package is way, way better and it put on a way better race than what that (today) did.”

NASCAR allowed the three long practice sessions on Friday for the teams to adjust to the new rules package they had brought to the Brickyard.  Biffle and his team took advantage of the extra track time and had a solid handling Lilly Ford.

From the drop of the green flag Biffle reported he needed more grip.  As the race unfolded the team pitted for wedge and air pressure adjustments, all of which helped put Biffle in a good position for what would turn into two green-white-checkered attempts to finish the race.  Biffle was poised to leave the Brickyard with a solid top-15 finish but had to settle for 19th after a shuffle on the final restart.
