Kevin Harvick Blows Motor Early at Pocono Raceway

Right after taking the lead 20 laps into the Windows 10 400 at Pocono Raceway, smoke would begin to trail the No. 4 Jimmy John’s Chevrolet.

For the first time this season, Kevin Harvick will post a DNF as he was sent behind the wall at lap 20 due to a blown motor, resulting in a 42nd place finish.

“I definitely had some signs off of turn two as to what the problems was and then it expired going into three,” he commented. “Hate it for everybody on our Jimmy John’s/Budweiser team.  I felt like we had a really good car again and just circumstances didn’t go our way.”

Stewart-Haas Racing uses engines supplied by Hendrick Motorsports. HMS also supplies engines for their four cars, Harvick’s three teammates and Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sebastes’ pair of entries. Ninety laps into the race, Harvick is the only driver to have blown a motor as Matt Kenseth leads the field.

Coming into this weekend’s race, the 2014 Sprint Cup Series Champion had been solid, posting two wins, 14 top-fives and 18 top-10s in the 20 races thus far to currently lead the standings.
