ADVANCE NOTES
Bayne at Watkins Glen
Bayne will make his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at Watkins Glen this weekend.
In four starts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series at the New York road course, Bayne recorded two top-10 finishes with a best finish of ninth in 2011.
Bayne finished 23rd at Sonoma earlier this season in the only other NSCS road course event.
Bob Osborne at Watkins Glen
Osborne will call his ninth NSCS race at Watkins Glen on Sunday. In eight previous starts, Osborne has recorded three top-fives, five top-10s and has earned an average finish of 8.9.
Osborne’s best finish of third came twice at the famed road course; once in 2006 with former Roush Fenway Racing driver Jamie McMurray and again in 2009 with former driver Carl Edwards.
Recapping Pocono
A piece of debris went through the nose of the AdvoCare Ford while Bayne was battling for position in the top 20, ending the Roush Fenway Racing team’s day early. Bayne was scored with a 40th-place finish.
QUOTE WORTHY
Bayne on racing in Watkins Glen:
“Watkins Glen is a tough road course. There are a lot of high speed corners which make it a lot different than the previous road course race in Sonoma. I’m looking forward to getting there in a Cup car. We’ve run pretty well there in the past in the XFINITY Series and I’m confident we can get a good run this weekend out of this AdvoCare Ford.”
