TIME TO HIT YOUR “MARKS” AT MID-OHIO

Justin Marks will make his 12th career NASCAR XFINITY Series start, and first for HScott Motorsports with Chip Ganassi (HSMCG), this weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Although this is only his second start at the 2.4-mile road course in an XFINITY Series car, Marks is no stranger to the facility. He collected a GT-class victory in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series, now the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, race in 2004. Marks scored a XFINITY Series career-best sixth-place finish one year ago at Mid-Ohio. He will also compete for HSMCG at the XFINITY Series race at Road America later this month.

MEET JUSTIN

On Saturday, Aug. 15 from 12:00 – 12:45 p.m. EDT, Marks will sign autographs, along with several other XFINITY Series drivers, in the Driver/Crew Chief Meeting tent. Wristbands will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. The first 100 fans in line will receive wristbands.

WATKINS GLEN RECAP

Kyle Larson made his seventh start of 2015 at Watkins Glen. This was the first time that Procter & Gamble’s Crest brand served as the primary sponsor of the HSMCG entry. After setting the quickest time and best 10-lap average in the final practice session on Friday afternoon, hopes were high for a strong run at the 2.45-mile road course. Larson started fourth, tying HSMCG’s best starting position in 2015. In the opening laps, Larson quickly moved into the third position and began to catch the top-two cars. On lap six, Larson reported something amiss in the rear end of the Crest Chevrolet. The team diagnosed the problem as a broken axel and was forced to make repairs behind the wall, losing 10 laps in the process. Larson returned to the track and gained several positions, ultimately settling for a 28th-place finish.

MARKS ON MID-OHIO SPORTS CAR COURSE
“I’ve been able to have success in many different types of race cars at this track, so I am really looking forward to racing at Mid-Ohio. I finished sixth last year and feel that we can have another very strong run. HScott Motorsports with Chip Ganassi has great people, solid equipment and displays great effort every time they’re on the track. I really love road-course racing and look forward to this great opportunity in the Linksys Camaro.”

CREW CHIEF MIKE SHIPLETT ON MID-OHIO SPORTS CAR COURSE

“Mid-Ohio is very challenging. The track has a lot of elevation changes and races tend to have long green-flag runs there. Like with all road courses, fuel mileage will be important. The most important things for the driver is to keep the car on the track and not use up the brakes. This will be Justin’s first race with us, but we know how strong he can be on a road course, so we’re really excited to have him in the car this weekend.”
