Bojangles’ Southern 500 | September 6, 2015

Taking On Darlington…The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series travels to Darlington Raceway in South Carolina, the oldest oval on the circuit, for a 500-mile race this Sunday night. Michael Annett will wheel a throwback Pilot Flying J Chevrolet, attempting his second ever Cup Series start in the Palmetto State.

Throwback Paint Scheme Celebrates Pilot History…The Pilot Flying J retro car Annett will drive this weekend is a nod to the 1970 Pilot logo with the original black, yellow and red colors. In 1977, Pilot bought Lonas Oil Company in Knoxville, Tennessee, and converted all the new locations into convenience stores. Today, Pilot Flying J operates 40 convenience stores and more than 650 travel centers and travel plazas.

Annett at Darlington…In four career NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at Darlington Raceway, Annett’s best result was an 11th-place finish in 2010.

Michael Annett on Darlington Raceway:
“The Darlington race is finally back on Labor Day weekend, when it should be. With Darlington, you race the track as hard as you do the other drivers. It takes a lot of focus and work to get around that place. Jay (Guy, crew chief), the team and myself will need to use the practice sessions this weekend to dial in our retro Pilot Flying J Chevrolet.”
