ADVANCE NOTES

Sadler at Richmond

Elliott Sadler will make his 25th NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) start at his home track this Friday night in Richmond, Va. at Richmond International Raceway (RIR). In Sadler’s previous 24 NXS starts at RIR, he’s recorded two top-five and 10 top-10 finishes. Earlier this year, Sadler started 17th and finished 16th.

The veteran driver from Emporia, Va. also has 24 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) starts at RIR with one top-10 finish.

Previous NASCAR XFINITY Series Race

Sadler finished 11th in the NXS race at Darlington Raceway this past Saturday afternoon. During qualifying, Sadler ran over some debris on his way back to pit road in round one and sliced his right-front tire. Sadler’s lap time qualified him to the second round, but Sadler couldn’t make an attempt with the flat tire. With additional motivation, Sadler pushed his car through the field and passed 14 cars before the competition caution came out on Lap 25.  The remainder of the race passed by quickly with only one more caution flag in the final 122 laps. Sadler battled inside the top-15 all day and drove his No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang across the finish line in the 11th position.

2015 NASCAR XFINITY Series Driver Point Standings

Following the NXS race at Darlington, Sadler remains in fifth-place, in the NXS Driver Point Standings. After 24 races, Sadler is now 91 points behind the leader.

QUOTE WORTHY

“I’ve been racing at Richmond for many years and I’ve been coming here as a fan for even longer. I’ve always said I’d rather win in Richmond over any other race track and hopefully we can make that come true this Friday night. Last week we finished 11th at Darlington and I’m ready to get back on the track Friday night in front of all my hometown fans.”
