Bayne Records 23rd-Place Finish in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (Sept. 12, 2015) – Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion, earned a 23rd-place finish on Saturday night in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) event at Richmond International Raceway.

“Our AdvoCare Ford was pretty quick on the long run,” said Bayne after the race. “We were able to make up some ground on some guys during those long stretches that really helped us. We’ll take this finish and move on to Chicago and see what we can do there.”

Bayne took the green flag from the 28th position and immediately reported to crew chief Bob Osborne that the AdvoCare Ford was tight through the center of the corner. Utilizing a Lap 37 caution, Osborne called Bayne to pit road for four tires and a chassis adjustment in the hopes of improving the tight handling condition.

Returning to the track in 30th, the Knoxville, Tenn. native was able to work his way up to 26th during the ensuing long green flag run, despite the return of the tight handling condition. Bayne continued to work his way forward, improving to the 22nd position just after a Lap 209 caution period.

The Roush Fenway Racing driver maintained his track position throughout much of the second-half of the race, moving up to 20th with less than 50 laps to go in the 400-Lap event.

In the closing stages, Bayne battled for track position following a restart with 18 laps to go and was able to take the checkered flag in the 23rd position.

Next up for the NSCS is Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday, Sept. 20.
