Team Chevy Takes Three of Top Five in Qualifying

LOUDON, NH – (September 25, 2015) – Kevin Harvick ran a fast lap of 27.631 seconds, 137.845 mph in his No. 4 Ditech Chevrolet SS around the 1.58-mile oval, to earn the runner-up starting position for Sunday’s Sylvania 300 NASCAR Sprint Cup (NSCS) race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS).  It marks the 20^th top-10 start of the 2015 season for the defending NSCS champion, and his 12^thin 30 races at the track known as the ‘Magic Mile’.

Harvick’s Stewart-Haas Racing teammate, Kurt Busch, was the third quickest in today’s three-round knock-out-style qualifying format in his No. 41 Haas Automation Chevy SS. It will be his 17^th top-10 start at NHMS and 14^th in 25 races thus far this year. Jimmie Johnson qualified his No. 48 Lowe’s Pro Services Chevrolet SS in fifth place, giving Team Chevy three of the top five in the starting grid.

Carl Edwards (Toyota) was the pole winner and Brad Keselowski (Ford) was fourth to round out the top five.

In this, the second of 10 races in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, there are nine Team Chevy drivers in contention for the eventual championship title.  They qualified as follows:

2^nd: Kevin Harvick, No. 4 Ditech Chevrolet SS

3^rd: Kurt Busch, No. 41 Haas Automation Chevy SS

5^th: Jimmie Johnson, No. 48 Lowe’s Pro Services Chevy SS

9^th: Ryan Newman, No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet SS

10^th: Jeff Gordon, No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevy SS

11^th: Dale Earnhardt Jr., No. 88 Nationwide Chevrolet SS

20^th: Paul Menard, No. 27 Sylvania/Menards Chevy SS

21^st: Martin Truex Jr., No. 78 Furniture Row/Visser Precision Chevy SS

27^th: Jamie McMurray, No. 1 FLIR Chevrolet SS
