Ford Performance NSCS Notes and Quotes
Ford EcoBoost 400 Advance – Homestead-Miami Speedway
Friday, November 20, 2015
RYAN BLANEY, driver No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion – (Qualified 6th) “We made really good adjustments between each round and that’s really all you can ask for. They did a good job adjusting and accounting for tire fall off. We improves every round. That’s all you can ask for besides getting the pole. It’s a good way to start off the weekend. I’m excited to get into practice mode tomorrow.” DOES STARTING CLOSER TO THE FRONT CHANGE STRATEGY? “I believe it does. You get a better pit stall. You get better everything when you start up front, better air to start with and you can get a lot better read on your race car when you start up front.” KEEPS THE MOMENTUM GOING FROM THE ANNOUNCEMENT EARLIER IN THE DAY. “That’s what we want to do. Hopefully we have a good race on Sunday and have good momentum to carry over into next year. DID YOU GET ANY LONG RUNS IN PRACTICE TODAY? “We made two race runs that were four or five laps. I thought our race runs were pretty good though. It didn’t show in the time chart but it was pretty good. I’m looking forward to tomorrow. I hope we get some practice in.”
BRAD KESELOWSKI – No. 2 Miller Lite Ford Fusion (Qualified 8th) – “That was decent. I thought I was gonna end up a little better than that, to be honest. I’m a little bit disappointed, I guess as much as you can be disappointed with eighth.” HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR CHANCES AT WINNING ON SUNDAY? “They give away a really cool boat if you win here, so I’d really like to win that. That would be cool.”
JOEY LOGANO POLE WINNER PRESS CONFERENCE
JOEY LOGANO, No. 22 Shell Pennzoil Ford Fusion – TALK ABOUT YOUR QUALIFYING RUN. “Not quite fast enough. It felt like after practice we didn’t get a qualifying run before the rain and it was an unknown to us. My team did a good job with the changeover to qualifying trim though and I am proud of what my team was able to do there, just wish we were a little faster in that third round.”
YOU MET WITH MATT KENSETH TODAY, CAN YOU TALK ABOUT HOW THAT WENT? “We haven’t had enough of this yet? It was good. NASCAR had us sit down and talk it out a little bit and I thought that was good for us to do.”
THERE IS SO MUCH ELSE GOING ON AROUND YOU AND BEHIND YOU, HOW DO YOU BALANCE THAT? “Obviously you keep in mind that we all know who is racing for a championship and race them with utmost respect but we all want to win the race as well. We want to bookend the season from the 500 to Homestead and that is our goal this week. We keep in mind what the other driver’s goal is and keep that in mind for sure. You don’t want to be the guy to mess that up but you want to win the race too.”
WHAT WOULD IT MEAN TO YOU TO BE A SPOILER IN THIS RACE AND WHY NO BITTERNESS? “Life is short. This is a drop in the bucket. Hopefully I have a long career in this and this is one season and a season we are proud of. A lot of wins and top-five finishes and nothing to hold our heads down about it. If we finished second in Martinsville with that tire issue we had in Texas we wouldn’t have made it anyway. As the driver and one of the leaders of the team, you have to stay positive and your attitude is contagious. For me it works for me to stay positive. Is it disappointing we aren’t racing with these guys for the championship? Of course it is. We want to be. But it is what it is and we move on.”
