Garrett Smithley to Compete in Both NASCAR XFINITY and Truck Series Events at Atlanta Motor Speedway

Smithley of Nearby Peachtree City to be Sponsored by Instalco in Both Events

Kannapolis, N.C.  (February 23, 2016) – Garrett Smithley, driver of the No. 0 JD Motorsports Chevrolet in NASCAR XFINITY Series competition, has added NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events to his 2016 schedule. Smithley will run double-duty this week in the JD Motorsports NXS entry as well as the No. 63 MB Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado NCWTS truck starting this weekend at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway. Both teams will carry primary sponsorship from Instalco.

Smithley, 23, has competed in four previous NCWTS events, all for MB Motorsports. He finished 18th in the Hyundai Construction Equipment 200 at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway last season and posted a career-best NCWTS finish of 14th at Michigan International Speedway last August. He made his NXS debut last season at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway scoring a 28th-place finish.

“It’s always nice to go back to your roots, and this weekend is a huge homecoming for me,” Smithley, a native of nearby Peachtree City said. “A year ago I made my NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut and to come back for a double header weekend, at my home track, is an amazing opportunity.I’m thankful forJD Motorsports allowing me to take on these extra races and to my friends at MB Motorsports for giving me the extra track time and more races with them this season.”

Smithley’s first event at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway, the Heads Up Georgia 250 NXS race, will air live on FOX Sports 1 Saturday, February 27 at 1:30pm, EST. The Great Clips 200 NCWTS event will follow immediately after, also on FOX Sports 1, at 4:30pm, EST. Both events can also be heard on select PRN radio stations across the country at the same times.
