ADVANCE NOTES

Biffle at Pocono
In his 25 career Cup Series starts at Pocono, Biffle has one win, five top fives and eight top-10 finishes.

In 2010 he earned his only victory at the “tricky triangle.”

One Year Ago at Pocono

Biffle narrowly missed advancing in qualifying to the second round and was left starting 27th.  The No. 16 Ford only needed minor air pressure and wedge adjustments over 160-laps and in the end, Biffle was able to save enough fuel to earn a 12th-place finish.

Last Fall at Pocono

Biffle had worked his way into the top 10 and was able to capitalize on pit strategy, stretching fuel mileage to the end.  Biffle ran out of fuel coming to the white flag but was able to coast his way to a fifth-place finish while many others had to pit for fuel.

On the Car

The No. 16 Fusion carries the Ford EcoBoost colors this weekend in Pocono. Ford EcoBoost technology combines smaller overall size with turbocharging, direct injection and variable valve timing to bring customers outstanding performance and fuel economy.

Local Ties

Three members of the No. 16 team call Pocono their home track.  Joe Zanolini, front end mechanic, is from Syberstville, PA.  Dustin Keath, tire specialist, is from Reading, PA and pit support member Dale Hoffman is from Allentown, PA.

Biffle on Pocono:

“Pocono is a unique place and a lot of fun to race at. You hear us talk about three different corners, different banking, dogleg, tunnel turn, and a real flat long turn three to go down a big long straightaway.  Strategy is getting your car to turn and have grip in all those different corners.  Pocono is one place you really have to compromise.  You can get your car really good in Three and Four, but you can’t do anything in One and Two and the Tunnel is ok. Or you can get it decent in another spot, but the tunnel is really bad.  So it’s a track you really have to work at.”
