Wallace Finishes 16th in Rain-Shortened Event in Pocono

LONG POND, Pa. (June 4, 2016) – Bubba Wallace, driver of the No. 6 LoudMouth Exhaust Ford Mustang, improved 24 positions in the early stages of the NASCAR XFINITY Series event at Pocono Raceway before rain forced NASCAR to call the race official just past the halfway point, ultimately leading to a 16th-place finish.

“I hate that we were in that position at the start,” said Wallace after the race. “I just got really loose off of the corner there in qualifying but I’m really proud of how we rebounded as a team and never gave up. I think we would have definitely gained some more spots had this rain not come. But now it’s on to Michigan where we look to have a solid run with this LoudMouth Exhaust Ford.”

Wallace took the green flag in the inaugural NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Pocono from the 40th position after getting loose and spinning out off of the first corner during his qualifying attempt. Despite the setback in qualifying, Wallace charged forward once the race began, improving 14 positions by the completion of the first lap.

By the time the competition caution came out on Lap 15, Wallace had driven his way up to the 21st position. The driver of the LoudMouth Exhaust Ford utilized this caution period to come to pit road for two tires and a chassis adjustment to help alleviate a loose-handling condition.

When the race went back green on Lap 23 Wallace continued to climb the leaderboard as he moved into the top 20 for the first time just one lap after the restart. Then, with one eye looking up at the sky and another out the windshield, Wallace moved into the 16th position following a restart on Lap 38 and maintained that track position until the caution came out for rain on Lap 51, one lap past halfway.

After a lengthy delay and a persisting rain shower, NASCAR deemed that the race was official, scoring Wallace with a 16th-place finish.

Next up for the NASCAR XFINITY Series is Michigan International Speedway on Saturday, June 11.
